Lavender Graduation

We are excited to open the RSVP for our 2024 Lavender Graduation ceremony, a celebration of achievements and milestones within the LBGTQ+ MIT community. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 3rd, at 4:00 pm US Eastern Time at the MIT Welcome Center

Whether you're able to join us in person or virtually, we invite you to be a part of this joyous occasion where we come together to recognize the remarkable accomplishments of you, our graduating LBGTQ+ MIT undergraduate and graduate/postdoc from the class of 2024.

Our Lavender Graduation promises to be a unique and inclusive experience, offering a hybrid format for those unable to attend in person. Expect a vibrant celebration filled with music, inspiring speeches, graduate recognitions, food, and more. To ensure accessibility, the event will feature a live closed captioner, and please note that it will not be recorded.

Mutual Aid Bazaar & Open Mic with Queer Muslims of Boston

 

Description:  Bring your gently used clothing accessories, small home goods, makeup, and craft items to our Mutual Aid Bazaar! Swap, trade and take home as much as you like, for free! There will be light snacks and refreshments, along with an open mic towards the end of the night.

Trauma - Informed Self Defense Class
 

Description: FREE trauma-informed self defense class taught by trained instructors from IMPACT Boston. This class will center the experiences of all women and non-binary folks, LBGTQ+ communities, and intersectional marginalized identities - all MIT students are welcome to attend.

Understanding Intimate Partner Violence
 

Description: Intimate partner violence is much more complicated than how it is commonly portrayed in media. Join VPR, WXGS, and LBGTQ+ Services in a discussion that debunks common myths about IPV, its relation to sexual assault, as well as the disproportionate impacts it has on minoritized groups of people.

Trauma and The Body
 

Description:  Learn about the ways that trauma shows up in our daily lives and its impacts on the body. Learn to identify our bodies’ own signals, practice different nervous system regulation skills, and engage in discussion with peers

Not one or the other: Embracing Queer and Religious Identities
 

Description:  Discover the intricate intersection of queer and religious identities at our panel discussion featuring MIT staff, alumnx, and students who openly identify as both queer and religious/spiritual. Open to all MIT affiliates.

Rainbow Seder
 

Description: Join LBGTQ+ Services and MIT Hillel for a Rainbow Seder, where we will immerse ourselves in the retelling of Exodus and celebrate stories of freedom and resilience. This unique event blends the traditions of the Jewish Passover Seder with a focus on LGBTQ+ experiences, highlighting the journey toward freedom and acceptance. All are welcome to attend.

MISTI + Rainbow Lounge: The LBGTQ+ experience abroad: Being out in the world
 

Description:  MISTI and the Rainbow Lounge invites MIT students of all sexual orientations and genders for a session featuring queer-identified students sharing their experiences living, working, and studying abroad. Panel followed by informal discussion. Contact Misti@mit.edu
