The Rainbow Lounge is open. LBGTQ+ Services will be running programs throughout the year.  All students do have extended tap access to use the space as long as Walker doors are open. Come on in!

QTWoC Community Gathering 

Description: Building a queer and trans community for women and nonbinary people of color. Please join LBGTQ+ Services and Women and Gender Services at SPXCE W 31-110. Enjoy light refreshments, create buttons, play games, and jam to personalized QTWoC Playlist! Come to mix and mingle with other queer and trans women of color and non-binary students of color.

Description: Join the Rainbow Lounge for an evening of crafts. This crafts event is lead by our Rainbow Lounge Student workers who will guide you in Origami designs.

Queer Leaders Chat 

Description: Calling all leaders and members of the LBGTQ+ Community of MIT (not just official titles) who work in supporting and advancing the needs of LBGTQ+ students. Stop by the Rainbow Lounge and with the Assistant Director of LBGTQ+ Services to learn from them and one another on topics related to LBGTQ+ life at MIT.

QTPoC Dinner with Lama Rod Owens 

Description: Join us for a conversation and dinner with Lama Rod Owens, Tantric Buddhist minister. As a Black, Queer activist, Lama Rod focuses on spiritual practices that call people home to their bodies and their communities. In his book Love and Rage: The Path of Liberation Through Anger, he teaches about "facing our anger and welcoming it as a teacher and friend so that it can help us to benefit ourselves and others.

 

LBGTQ+ Game Night  

Description: Chill out and avoid some of that homework in the Rainbow Lounge. Bring  friends and play board games, card games and kahoots.

Trans Day of Visibility 

Description: ​​Every year we honor International Transgender Day of Visibility, a time to celebrate transgender and non-binary people around the globe and acknowledge the courage it takes to live openly and authentically. Join us in the Rainbow Lounge for food, games, and community as we celebrate the beauty of our Tans Community. Students, Staff, and Faculty are all invited

Recurring Events

Regular events are our programs that happen can happen as pop up events, regualar weekly events, or bi-monthly that are put on by our LBGTQ+ Graduate Assistants and Rainbow Lounge Student Workers. Movie Night: Veneno EP 1 & 2 

Description: Join us as we stream episode 1 & 2 of Veneno. Based on the memoir by Valeria Vegas “Not A Whore, Not A Saint: The Memories of La Veneno,” Spanish creators and directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi bring the most beloved transgender icon of the 90s, Cristina Ortiz (La Veneno) to life.  The series follows Valeria, a young journalism student who discovers she has more in common with La Veneno than she thought. The two women were born in very different times, but their stories become intertwined when Valeria writes a book about La Veneno. Through learning more about her, Valeria discovers her chosen family, how to love herself, and the impact of mass media in the life of an enigmatic entertainer. Queer Talks

A once a month conversation led by the Rainbow Lounge that enages LBGTQ+ students in topics and issues impacting the community. LBGTQ+ students engage in dialogue and learn from each other as they explore controversial topics and leave with tips and tools on how to take action.
